Come Show Off Your Hounds - Volunteers Needed for the 8th Annual Renegade Craft Fair - September 11 and 12
The Renegade Craft Fair is coming up next month on Saturday 9/11 and Sunday 9/12. Renegade is located in Chicago on Division St. between Damen and Paulina in Wicker Park.
The set up for this event will be a Meet 'n Greet style as we will not be setting up the standard GO Booth and selling merchandise, but we will have the basics - tent, literature, etc. We are also interested in anyone who can provide transport to and from the Chicago kennels to get some adoptable dogs to and from the event.
The show runs from 11am-7pm both days and the shift times both Saturday and Sunday are as follows:
11-1pm; 1-3pm; 3-5pm (we are also looking for some extra help with set up and tear down both days, please let us know if you can help with this also)
Please let us know if you are available and what shift time you would be interested in or if you are interested in transporting an adoptable hound. When responding please indicate what shift time (please provide 1st and 2nd choices), how many humans (with names) and most importantly, how many hounds (with names), please also provide your phone number in the event we need to reach you. Email to: lhay@illinois-law.com.
Note regarding adoptable hounds - we are looking for individuals with previous greyhound experience to handle the adoptable hounds. Anyone volunteering to handle an adoptable hound will need to provide transport for that dog to the event, handle that dog for the duration of the shift and then provide transport back to the kennel (dogs are typically picked up at one of the Chicago kennels). Foster dogs are also welcome, if there are any foster families who can bring their hounds please let us know.
Please respond to Linda Hay at lhay@illinois-law.com, or call 312-907-2994, or contact Linda with any questions.
As always we very much appreciate your enthusiasm and dedication to this worthy cause. We hope to see you out there!

Once again it is time for the annual happy hour at Irish Eyes, an Irish Pub located in the heart of Lincoln Park. Join us for a drink and cheer on the volunteer bartenders from Greyhounds Only as you help rescued, retired greyhounds. There is not a cover but gratuities from the evening help support the cause so we are hoping everyone will be generous. There will be complimentary vegetarian and vegan snacks. A percentage of each greyhound drink ordered will help the greyhounds. There will also be raffle tickets to purchase to win some "greyt" prizes and some merchandise for shopping opportunities. Unfortunately, due to space limitations, pets besides the mascot dogs collecting donations will not be allowed at the event but their spirits will be with us as we help their buddies.
Volunteers are also needed to help make this event a success. Assistance needed: bartending (no experience necessary), selling raffle tickets, helping distribute raffle prizes, acting as emcee for evening, assisting with setup/cleanup, assisting with merchandise, taking photos during event, obtaining raffle prizes for event, placing fliers at businesses to help promote the event, etc. If you are available to help either in advance or the day of event, please contact Carrie at 773-472-3834 or codycheq@aol.com and indicate your area of interest and preferred times. Thank you so much!
Hope to see you on September 30th! It will be a "greyt" time!

We would love to have you and your hounds participate in the Sycamore Pumpkin Parade. It is the highlight of the Sycamore Pumpkin Festival. Sycamore is just north of DeKalb, IL. This event is well worth the drive.
The parade route is about 2 miles long. Your greyhound will be seen by thousands of spectators. If you wish, feel free to dress up your dog. This is a great opportunity to build awareness of Greyhounds Only and show your dog. Please visit the website for event details and a local map at www.sycamorepumpkinfestival.com.
The parade starts at 1 PM. We will meet at our parade spot at 12:30. The parade position will be determined later and we will let you know. If you are interested in tailgating, we will be at the Ideal building at the SE corner of Borden and Park at 11AM. Please bring a dish to pass. This is also a good place to park.
If you have any questions please feel free to email or call. We look forward to seeing you there.
GO REUNION 11/7/2010
Where:
Warren Park Field House
6601 N. Western Avenue
Chicago, IL.
When:
Sunday, November 7
9:30am - 3:30pm
Contact:
Sue Bond
goreunion2010@gmail.com
On November 7, 2010 we are holding our annual Greyhounds Only Reunion. Traditionally, this has been our largest fundraising event of the year thanks to corporations and individuals who have made contributions to our raffle and live auction. This year's reunion will be held at the Warren Park Field House, located at 6601 N. Western Ave, Chicago. This year's reunion will start at 9:30am and go to 3:30pm. There will be an $8.00 entrance fee for anyone over the age of 15. Children under the age of 15 and hounds are free!
We will be looking for volunteers to fill a variety of positions, including selling raffle tickets, registering attendees, working the GO booth, doggy daycare, etc. If you are interested in volunteering please email Melody Weiss at greyhoundsonlyvolunteer@hotmail.com.
Grey Oaks Photography will be coming back again this year. If you have had pictures taken with David and his team in the past you know he does a greyt job! I will be taking reservations for Grey Oaks. Reservations will be in 10 minute increments, starting at 9:30am. If you would like to have your pups photographed please email me at goreunion2010@gmail.com to reserve your slot. As in previous years the day fills up fast.
Rachel Dolan, Animal Communicator, will be doing consultations at the GO Reunion. She will see one animal per session. Each session is 15 minutes and the cost is $25.00. Ms. Dolan is new to the reunion this year. She comes highly recommended by many GO members. Ms. Dolan was integral in leading the group of volunteers to find Tammy. One member says "My favorite story about Rachel is when I was part of a rescue team to find Tammy, a lost GO hound. Remotely, and with no knowledge of the area, Rachel told me to tell the volunteers to look for a wind mill. The next day Tammy was spotted on a patio three miles away from where she escaped. The next door neighbors had a wind mill! Tammy is home, safe and sound because of Rachel's vision and sensitivity to Tammy's spirit."
Reservation details for Ms. Dolan will be coming soon.
This year we are hoping you, your family, friends and/or your company will help us by donating an item of your choice; no item is too large or too small. As contributions to our organization are deductible for income tax purposes, please assign a value to your donation. You will receive an acknowledgement of your donation by mail.
